How to Get Your Customers Swearing BY you NOT at you
Guest Speaker: Nancy Friedman (The Telephone Doctor)

A communication program for everyone. A dynamic program on sales and communication. If you've ever seen one of Nancy's programs,  you know you'll be laughing and learning all through the session. If you haven't seen her programs, well by gosh, it's time to! From Soup to Nuts and A to Z, you'll hear the alphabet of better communications.

You'll walk out of this session far more prepared to handle situations than when you walked into the program!

You'll walk out of this session having learned:

  • The difference between being passive, average and proactive
  • How to explain the difference of features & benefits to your customers
  • How to rapport build better

The Second part of this 3 hour program will include how to get more information when the caller just asks “how much is……..”?

Telephone inquires are not always about price.

How much is that doggie in the window? You may recognize that as an old song, but it’s still a current question. If your organization gets price shopped or folks call to get a  price and then hang up after you give it to them, this program is for you! You see, most people call and ask about pricing because that’s all they know to ask. It’s normally not really what they need at the first breath. If your employees (or you) are giving the price estimates out and not getting anything in return (like a name or an appointment), that’s pretty much a guaranteed lost opportunity and possibly a lost sale. This exciting and powerful program will help you get more appointments and eventually more sales!

Foundations: Where Successful Practice Management Begins

Guest Speakers:Jennifer Inbody, CVPM, PHR and Christy Johnson, CVPM, PHR
This session will help the veterinary practice manager explore, create and/or rekindle the vision, mission and core values of the hospital. Once these needs have been met the manager will then venture to understanding, outlining and following through on clear expectations, empowering the team and leading the hospital. We will help managers to identify whether or not they or their team members are living in a world of ownership, accountability and responsibility or if they are trapped in the realm of blame, excuses and denial. The path to excellence begins with a strong foundation, awareness and is carried through by creating a plan of action that enables dreams to come true.

TRACK 2 - ADVANCED TOPICS Gold Sponsorship Level ($2,000)

Roundtable Discussions

Topics include:

  • With so much benchmark data available how do you know what to use and how do you actually apply it to make changes in your practice.
  • How do you reconcile the owner's perceived value of the practice with the actual true current value? How do you get them to understand that day-to-day decisions
    impact the final practice value?
  • Changing policies mid-stream: how do you tackle a new situation with an outdated policy?
  • Manager development, how do we as managers train our replacements so that we can take on the next level of responsibility.
  • What is the best time-management or work efficiency tool you have ever used and how has it helped you.

Roundtable Discussions
Topics include:

  • Specialist Compensation
  • Creating Team Concept: How do you avoid the inter-department wars?
  • Vendor Relationships: Who have you partnered with/how have they helped improve your hospital?
  • Specialists Involved in Marketing: How do you inspire your doctors to "build" relationships with RDVM population?
  • Compassion Fatigue: How do you support your staff and clients given the breadth of death and dying in our work environment?

Becoming a Public Relations Savvy Veterinary Practice: Strategies for Success
Guest Speakers: Leza Raffel
Eager to gain publicity for your veterinary practice, but unsure how to begin? Curious how to write an effective press release? Nervous about how to handle a scheduled interview with a reporter?  Wondering how you can promote your special event or new service offering to the community or promote yourself as an expert in your community?

If you answered “yes” to any of these, this session is for you!

During the media training session provided by Communication Solutions, veterinary practice owners and managers will learn how approach the press with story ideas, draft attention-grabbing press releases and to take control of a media interview—whether the media outlet is newspaper, radio,  television or Internet-based.
This comprehensive session will cover:

  • What editors look for in a story: print vs. radio vs. TV
  • How to draft a press release that reporters will read and use
  • Who in the newsroom makes decisions about covering your story?
  • How newsrooms find quotable experts
  • Strategies for getting your message across effectively: print vs. radio vs. television vs. Internet
  • How to position yourself as a media expert
  • How to engage community members through special event planning and promotion.
  • How to deal with the media in a crisis situation

Mock interviews and press release writing feedback will also be incorporated into this training session, so come prepared to write, to practice interview techniques and to learn!
