We are excited to present these extra fun and educational activities for the upcoming Annual Meeting and Conference. We hope that these activities add value to your experience at a VHMA event. These activities are optional attendance and can be selected when you register for the event.

Hospital Tour: DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital

 

There is no cost for the hospital tour.

 

The shuttle bus will depart from the hotel at 6:00 p.m. and return approximately at 8:30 p.m.

 

Pizza will be provided during the tour for those who will not have time to eat before.

DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital is a non-profit, 24-hour emergency and critical care hospital in Portland, Oregon. As a veterinary teaching hospital and a triple AAHA-accredited specialty facility, DoveLewis provides top quality continuing education, internships, and externships for veterinarians and technicians from around the world. The development of atdove.org the optimal way for DoveLewis to expand its education mission and reach as a non-profit organization.

Developed by the staff at DoveLewis Emergency Animal Hospital, atdove.org is a web-based staff training program providing video content and tools to veterinary practices and educational institutions. Launching in 2011 as On the Floor @Dove, the website offers over 450 procedural shorts produced by DoveLewis with real patients and medical and management staff on the hospital floor. Through atdove.org, DoveLewis is able to speak directly to its’ premium members by teaching various procedures, from basic to advanced and specialty too, in a real hospital setting in real time.

In addition to DoveLewis’ educational services program, the hospital provides several other donor-funded programs to the community, including one of the region’s largest volunteer-based animal blood banks; a nationally recognized pet loss support program; animal-assisted therapy made possible through a partnership with Guide Dogs for the Blind; stabilizing care for lost, stray, wild, and abused animals; and financial assistance for qualifying low-income families.

Group Dinners: For those looking to enjoy more networking time with colleagues, group dinners will be offered--a signup sheet will be available at the registration desk. Individuals will be responsible for their own expenses.

Dinner and Wine Tasting: English Estate Winery

 

Cost for dinner and wine tasting: $28 (inclusive).

 

The shuttle bus will depart from the hotel at 5:45 p.m. and return at approximately 9:30 p.m.

 

SEATING IS LIMITED

Vancouver, Washington’s first winery. Founder, Carl English, first planted grapes in 1980 on land his family has owned since 1903. The winery and tasting room opened to the public in 2000.

They grow Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Semillon and Gevürstraminer on the 20 acre farm and produce fruit forward wines and nectars.

Most of their wine is sold in the popular 3 liter bag-in-box packaging which allows customers to enjoy a glass at a time with no waste. Come into see this unique packaging system that is catching on with more and more small wineries. They also offer our wines in good old-fashioned bottles.

 

 


 
Laboratory Tour: Antech Diagnostics
