WEBINAR: Taking Charge of Your Professional Journey

Thursday, September 22, 2022

Life in a clinic setting is all the things. It is rewarding, challenging, maddening, inspiring and more. Regardless of where you are in your professional journey, there are many ways to grow in veterinary medicine. The paths you can take are nearly endless if you are driven to seek them out and advocate for yourself. Join Carol Hurst, LVT, CVPM, CVJ, CCFP, as she goes through her professional journey from the time she graduated high school and rolled into tech school to where she is now – working as a consultant with Encore Vet Group. She’ll detail the key decisions that helped propel her career forward (definitely not all pre-planned), the people she met along the way, and how your limit in this profession is up to your imagination.

Key Learning Points:
• Learn the critical concept that is critical for helping develop the foundation for going on your professional journey
• Learn ways to “market” your skills/knowledge while in private practice
• Learn the best locations to market those skills

Speaker:
Carol Hurst, LVT, CVPM, CVJ, CCFP
Carol is proud of her LVT roots, having obtained her credentialing in 2005 – straight out of high school. She understands the dynamics of practice leadership as she was thrust into a management role after being on the floor for two years – with very little preparation. It turned out that she loved affecting positive change within the practice and went on to manage for 12 years.

One of her passions is giving back to the veterinary community, and she has done so by writing medical and leadership articles and serving as Vice-President and then President of her local manager group. One of her driving forces is helping others in leadership with all of the tips and tricks that she has learned along the way. This has played a big part in the various forms of credentialing she’s earned over the years. It also led her to join the Patterson University team as an instructor for a time, as well as co-owning her own company where she could exercise these skills before joining the VetSupport team full-time.
