Cory Friedman, CBC
Cory Friedman is Vice President of Benefits Consulting at Alera Veterinary. Cory specializes in the mid-market segment, and has developed considerable expertise in the Veterinary Industry, working with veterinary hospitals all over the country. Cory and his team have been the American Animal Hospital Association’s (AAHA) preferred-provider for employee benefits since 2009. Cory works to provide guidance and objective analysis of group insurance benefits and is currently responsible for the health insurance and employee benefit programs of more than 150 veterinary practices.


Cory has earned the Chartered Benefits Consultant (CBC) designation, provided by the National Association of Alternative Benefits Consultants, which demonstrates his expertise in Consumer-Driven Health Plans. In 2016, he was selected as a Young Gun Award recipient by Insurance Business America, which recognizes young professionals making a significant impact in the insurance industry. Cory was also named a “Rising Star” in 2017 by Employee Benefit Adviser, earning recognition as one of 20 advisers nationally age 35 and younger who exhibit quick thinking, openness to change, and the ability to navigate the ever-changing employee benefit landscape.


Cory is a graduate of Indiana University, where he studied Finance at the Kelley School of Business.


Upon joining GCG Financial, Cory quickly began building an extensive employee benefits practice and established himself as a champion of client service. Cory has also been recognized as a Circle of Excellence, Delta Club, and Black Tie Club qualifier.



Jonathan Jarrell, SHRM-CP, PHR

Jonathan Jarrell, SHRM-CP, PHR is the Corporate Director of Human Resources for Cone Distributing based in Ocala, FL. He is a Certified Speaker and Leadership Coach with the John Maxwell Company and a Certified Social and Emotional Intelligence Coach. Known by his friends as JJ he has used his influence in Human Resources to focus on individual strengths while improving performance. In his previous role as a Regional Director of Human Resources JJ was responsible for a employee group of over 1,800 people.




Sarah H. Lamar, Attorney

Sarah H. Lamar is a partner with the Savannah law firm of HunterMaclean where she practices in the area of employment law. Sarah has experience representing employers in employment litigation in state and federal courts regarding discrimination, harassment, wage-hour, breach of contract, and tort claims. She also conducts in-house training for employers and advises clients on a variety of employment law issues. She received her B.A. degree from Yale University and her J.D. degree from Emory University. Before private practice, she was a law clerk to the Honorable Richard B. Kellam, United States District Court, Eastern District of Virginia.
Sarah Lamar is currently the Co-Chair of the State of GA SHRM Government Affairs Committee and the past chair of ALFA International, a global legal networking organization. Sarah has been named as one of the “Best Lawyers” in Labor and Employment Law. The highly competitive Chambers USA legal directory highlights Sarah in its Georgia Employment Law rankings.
