Did you anyone sit
in on the latest Member Connect webinar where we learned all of the many things
the new website can do? Extraordinary, right? To be frank, I found it a
bit overwhelming, so I thought I would I would help everyone out by giving you
an ULTRA condensed version of some of the site’s most tantalizing features.
Bread making:
Click on the Gourmand tab located in the upper right hand corner of the
Admin Page, scroll down and select the icon of the steaming baguette.
When you click on it, VHMA Member Connect sends a real time message
to elves that live in tree trunks that bake bread and send it to your address.
It's important to confirm your contact information before hand under the
My Profile Tab as some bread has been mis-shipped in this beta test.
Goosestepping:
Under the Libraries Tab, you can scroll down to Military Maneuvers,
subheading Goose Stepping. For the manager looking to make an impressive
entrance into his or her next staff meeting, this 'how to' is a must see.
Practice Purls:
Located under Office Crafts in the Arts and Humanities tab is an
excellent site for knitting tips. Extraordinarily, you can click the
'purls' icon, then toss your latest sweater or shawl project over your computer
terminal, and have the website count your dropped stitch. Fast, easy and
incredibly user friendly, don't forget to download the pattern for the latest
VHMA logo available also in appliqué.
Head swapping:
With so many good looking and stylish members, the VHMA has designed a
special feature into the new site that allows you to switch out your hair style
for another member’s. Feel like a fancy blond bob? What about a
crew cut? Simply drag your cursor over the part of your head you want to
erase, click the Barber Pole icon located on the left hand side of your page,
then similarly outline the head of any member you choose. Voila!
You look like they do and they look like you. You've swapped heads.
Remarkable.
Classic Disco 1979:
All VHMA members have excellent access to audio recordings stored on the
site and maintained by the VHMA Board of DJ's. If you go to the Home Page
and click on the spinning mirror ball icon, it will open a whole library of
some excellent tunes, but be sure to visit the special Classic Disco 1979 section
where you can sip a martini with a favorite manager-friend in the virtual
version of a Studio 54.
Angry Managers:
Riding on the coat tails of the especially popular Angry Birds game now
sweeping the internet, the VHMA Committee has thoughtfully added a Gamer
Section to their website. Under the Booze, Boys and Broads Tab, select
the blinking pinball machine icon and after that, the cage full of angry
managers flapping around inside a hospital. The game is exactly like Angry Birds, except now you get to
put any manager of your choice (select one in the Profiles Section) into a slingshot
and hurl them at a building full of technicians, receptionists and
doctors. So much fun. Someone help me, I can’t stop playing
this game!!!
Seriously, folks…the
sophistication of the site made me giddy…so much so that I decided on the above
riff. But everyone who
participated in this project should be exceedingly proud of themselves. Not only because the site is a
functioning, in-your-face, every-day example of the creators’ talent,
intelligence and professionalism, but also because it elevates the image of all
VHMA members. As a resource to the
industry, it appears to be a go-to-first destination…like a Veterinary
Management Google. It’s bound to
increase membership, increase exposure of the group and provide the funding
necessary for the next great thing, undoubtedly already being cooked up, just
around the corner.
…Hell, there’s probably a
tab you can click on to read what it may be.
