VHMA and Alera Veterinary Introduce an EAP through CuraLinc

In the veterinary industry, employee productivity is critical to a practice’s success. Stress, substance abuse, psychological issues and a host of personal and behavioral issues can lead to low productivity, lack of focus, absenteeism and higher healthcare costs. For employees navigating life issues that are impacting their work, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) offer support through education, awareness and counseling services. To ensure that its member hospitals have access to an affordable EAP, the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association (VHMA) and Alera Veterinary have introduced an EAP with member-only pricing through CuraLinc Healthcare.

CuraLinc’s EAP offers employers a constructive approach to assist employees with personal and work-related concerns. The program starts at just $50 per month for VHMA member hospitals and is confidential, supportive and flexible. Whether the employee issues are related to compassion fatigue, anxiety, depression, family and marital problems, grief, stress or substance abuse, CuraLinc’s services include real-time employee support, management consultations, and telephone or in person counseling.

VHMA Executive Director Christine Shupe said, “VHMA has teamed up with Silver Business Alliance Partner Alera Veterinary to offer member hospitals an effective EAP at affordable rates. Resources provided through the program are vital to supporting employees in times of need. Hospitals that offer an EAP demonstrate that they are an employer that is concerned about the health and wellbeing of staff.” Studies have shown that employee health, productivity, and satisfaction improve after using services provided through an EAP.

Wellness is much more than being physically healthy or free from illness or disease. Wellness is an overall sense of health in all areas of life, including mentally, physically, emotionally, socially and environmentally. EAPs can be an important factor in helping employees achieve wellness.
