The recognition week is a time to highlight and celebrate practice management professionals and their role within the veterinary settings they manage.

The Veterinary Hospital Managers Association (VHMA) is happy to announce Practice Manager Recognition Week, slated for November 12-18, 2023.

This week was created to bring attention to the often-unsung heroes who empower veterinary medical providers to devote their focus to patient treatment and outcomes. They achieve this by managing human resources, practice finances, marketing, organizational issues, and much more.

For Practice Manager Recognition Week, VHMA will highlight the role that managers play in their practice and the industry and will share ideas with veterinary owners and team members so they can recognize and celebrate their managers.

The theme for recognition week is “Practice Managers Make It Happen,” a homage to these skillful and supportive members of the veterinary practice team.

If utilized to their maximum potential, practice managers possess decision-making responsibilities over most business aspects of the veterinary practice. They are leaders who go the extra mile to ensure daily operations run smoothly and team members, clients, and patients feel supported.

Intended to be celebrated the third week of November annually, this year’s Practice Manager Recognition Week runs from November 12-18. American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has joined VHMA’s efforts to increase awareness about practice manager’s integral roles within a veterinary practice.

“Practice managers’ skill, dedication and efficiency are essential to every veterinary practice, and we are excited to join VHMA in celebrating the accomplishments of these amazing professionals during Practice Manager Recognition Week,” said Dr. Rena Carlson, President of the American Veterinary Medical Association. “The devotion of practice managers – to patients, clients, veterinarians, and staff – is truly a cornerstone of a successful, high-functioning practice. We appreciate that VHMA is highlighting the vital role of veterinary practice managers in our profession and are happy to share their message.”

“VHMA’s mission is to advance and support veterinary management professionals, and we are delighted to continue the tradition of recognizing the hard work and dedication these professionals do for their practices daily through a week devoted to them exclusively,” said Christine Shupe, CAE, VHMA executive director.
