New Orleans, La. — Like the music of New Orleans, which often has a vibrant, two-beat rhythm, the Veterinary Hospital Manager Association (VHMA) selected two President's Award winners this year. At its 2025 conference "Rhythms of Excellence: Strategies for Veterinary Hospital Success," held in New Orleans, VHMA honored Dr. Elizabeth Fritzler, DVM, CVPM, and Dr. Susan Diment, CVPM, PHR, DBA, for significantly impacting VHMA and growing the Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) program.
Fritzler, a VHMA member for more than 20 years, is currently the managing partner of Cascade Heights Veterinary Center. She served on the VHMA Board of Directors for over 10 years and earned her CVPM in 2008.
"It was a time of rapid growth for CVPM when I was associated with the Board, and that was very exciting," said Fritzler. "One of the big accomplishments during that time was moving the exam to testing centers rather than taking it at the conference. It made it much more accessible to contemplate sitting for the exam."
Fritzler understood that the CVPM certification program improved the business and medicine of the practice. This led her to serve on the CVPM Board of Directors as the DVM representative and VHMA Board liaison.
Diment is another champion of the CVPM program. She earned her certification in 2004, served on the VHMA Board of Directors for almost 10 years, and has been a VHMA member since 2000.
"The CVPM certification program, along with VHMA's forward-thinking ideas, really set me on my path for my professional career and developed me into the practice manager I am today," said Diment.
She worked as a practice manager for Clermont Animal Hospital for 20 years and joined VHMA's staff as a Candidate Liaison to the CVPM program in 2017. There were about 300 CVPMs then, and she's grown the program to more than 1,000.
"The CVPM provides validation and recognition that you're going to go the extra mile, and this is a career for you, not just a job," said Diment.
