On February 2, 2018, at its annual meeting in Orlando, Florida, VetPartners, a nonprofit association of veterinary business specialists serving the veterinary profession, presented its Pioneer Award to the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association (VHMA). The award honors individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the field of veterinary business consulting and advising. Honorees are chosen by the VetPartners Board of Directors. Recipients must have at least 20 years in the business of veterinary practice consulting or advising.

The VHMA was formed in 1981 to serve professionals in veterinary management by providing education, certification and networking designed to enrich members’ professional skills and expertise. Approximately 3,300 managers from across the country have joined VHMA and close to 520 members have earned the prestigious Certified Veterinary Practice Manager credential offered by the VHMA. VHMA President Jim Nash, MHA, CVPM, and Executive Director Christine Shupe, CAE, attended the meeting and accepted the award.

“It is truly a privilege to be selected by VetPartners as a pioneer in our industry. For more than 35 years our members have selflessly dedicated themselves to advancing our profession and making a difference in our communities. This award is a testament to their hard work and commitment,” Nash said.

According to VetPartners, the VHMA has had a significant impact on the veterinary industry by elevating the business side of the veterinary practice, advancing the importance of practice management teams and improving the status of practice managers by educating owners and administrators about the vital roles managers play in the practice.  VHMA was also lauded for making valuable resources, education and networking opportunities available to help managers thrive in all components of their jobs.

“VHMA is honored to be recognized for our efforts to positively impact the professionalism of managers who rely on the association for resources and opportunities to grow professionally and to help their practices succeed. We are proud of our members who are transforming their practices and the industry,” Shupe added.
