  • The winning manager has created a better workplace for staff, improved care for pets, and a better return for ownership.
  • Owners and colleagues are encouraged to nominate a management professional, and practice management professionals are encouraged to self-nominate.

The Veterinary Hospital Managers Association (VHMA) is now accepting nominations for the 2023 Practice Manager of the Year. The Practice Manager of the Year award will honor a management professional who has used knowledge, experience, and expertise to transform a practice and improve business operations. The 'manager's efforts have demonstrably improved the workplace, animal care, and/or the 'practice's bottom line.

"The Practice Manager of the Year is someone who has absorbed knowledge from educational opportunities, other managers and colleagues, and from in-the-field experiences, good and bad, and then used all that they know in an innovative way to transform a practice, clinic, or hospital for the better," said VHMA Executive Director Christine Shupe, CAE. "This person is dedicated to the veterinary management profession."

Shupe added that she hopes modest managers will come forward to nominate themselves. "This is not the time to conceal your successes," she said. "Excellent veterinary management professionals deserve to be recognized for their hard work, and others will learn from the 'winner's accomplishments."

The winner of the 2023 Practice Manager of the Year award will receive a complimentary VHMA 2023 Annual Meeting and Conference registration and $1,250 for travel, lodging, and meals. 'VHMA's 2023 Annual Meeting and Conference will be held September 21-23, 2023, in Glendale, AZ.

VHMA 2023 Practice Manager of the Year Nomination Requirements
