Finance Mastermind Group

This is a great opportunity to get financial management continuing education without the expense of travel!

A mastermind group is a dedicated group of professionals that meet on a regular basis to discuss issues important to them. VHMA peer-to-peer Mastermind Groups are typically led by a thought leader who moderates discussions and facilities organization of the group.

VHMA Financial Mastermind Groups are facilitated by Marsha L. Heinke, CPA, Inc. (MLHCPA) staff - a leader in practice management, with special emphasis in financial stewardship through a team of accounting professionals.

Functioning as course content providers, the MLHCPA learning facilitators focus on essential financial management skills which will be tailored to the extent possible based on course participant experiential and prior educational history.

VHMA Finance Mastermind Groups run for a six-month term, and meet live online monthly for 90 minutes each month.

Each monthly meeting will include: a reading assignment to help prepare participants in advance of the on-line facilitated session; instructor presentation of prepared content on selected veterinary practice financial management issues interspersed with group Q & A; and tools and resources specific to the monthly topic. Participants are encouraged to contribute problems, solutions, war-stories and best tips to help their colleagues and keep a lively discussion going, during the sessions as well as in the private forum between sessions.

VHMA's Financial Mastermind group members belong to a private community within VHMA's MemberConnect to communicate and share resources throughout the six month term. This online community will be available only to course registrants and the instructors. Once the course closes, the instructors will cease monitoring and interacting in the online community.

Participation in the group will allow members to:

  • Learn and apply fundamental practice financial management principles
  • Have access to CPAs and accounting professionals who work exclusively with veterinary practices on expansive areas of management
  • Acquire templates and resources that support policy and procedure
  • Enhance data collection and interpretation skills
  • Improve practice systems and internal controls
  • Learn best practices and pitfalls through interactions with other VHMA professionals who have experienced the same issues
  • Receive advice on how to accomplish more efficient and effective practice operations
